She was born July 27, 1918 in Plainville. She moved to the Port Charlotte area 20 years ago from Linton.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She liked to travel, go camping with her family and square dance. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Washington.
Survivors include: her husband of 70 years Kenneth Brookshire of Port Charlotte, Fla.; sons, Kenneth Joe Brookshire of Indianapolis, Darrell Brookshire of Mooresville, and Warren Brookshire of Osteen, Fla.; daughters, Linda Mahoney of Jacksonville, Fla., Brenda Coffin of Deep Creek, Fla., and Beth Gill of Southfield, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother Dexter and his wife Liz Laughlin; a sister Janet Wesnidge; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Norma and Jack Watson.
Funeral service will be today at 3 p.m. at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, Fla., with the Rev. Dale Roberts officiating.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of services today at the funeral home.
