Herbert Grayson Priest, 54, of Linton, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2005, Greene County Hospital.

Born Aug. 8, 1950, he was the son of John Herbert and Margaret (Snow) Priest.

He worked out of the Operating Engineers in Las Vegas, Nev., and was previously a coal miner for 25 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church; Sons of American Legion; Moose Lodge; BPO Elks Lodge #866; and Masonic Lodge #560, all of Linton. He was also a member of Scottish Rite and Shrine Club of Terre Haute; district representative for the United Mine Workers of America; and past president of the Greene County Shrine Club. He was a 1968 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School.

Survivors include: his parents John Herbert and Margaret Priest of Linton; two brothers, Steve Priest and his wife Kathy of Linton, and Jim Priest and his wife Mina of Linton; a sister, Peggy Walker and her husband Bill of Linton; a special aunt, Mary Ann "Sis" Robinson of Linton; and nieces and nephews, Heather Yung and her husband John; Haley Yung; Cris Walker and his wife Claudia; Cayden Walker; Camyn Walker; Mike Walker; Nathan Priest; Stephanie Priest; Matthew Krebbs; Austin Krebbs; Brian Walton; Kellie Walton; and Tyiana Walton.

Masonic funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Welch and Cornett Linton Chapel with Bro. Dick Smith officiating. A memorial service will immediately follow.

There is no visitation.

The family has requested that donations be made to the ALS Association through the funeral home.
