Born May 2, 1915 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Howard and Ima Hoke Sparks. She was married to Bernard W. Bland, who passed away Jan. 29, 1996.
She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary Worthington, and the Farmers Wifes-Homemakers Club, which she helped get started.
Survivors include: a son Terry Joe Bland of Huntingburg; a daughter-in-law Connie Bland of Huntingburg; two grandsons, Michael D. Bland of Jasper and Kevin Bland of Jasper; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Foddrill, Jean Pribble, and Martha Sharron, all of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard, a brother James Sparks, and a sister Helen Peno.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Newark Cemetery, Newark with the Rev. Carl Jackson officiating.
There will be no public visitation.
