Born July 6, 1938 in St. Charles, Va., he was the son of Charles and Mabel (Turner) Dotson.
He was a retired truck driver and a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
Survivors include: his mother Mabel Dotson Hogarth of Mooresville; his wife Jacqueline "Jackie" (Reece) Dotson of Worthington; a son Brian Dotson of Worthington; a daughter Leah Waggoner of Kansas City, Kan.; three brothers, Danny Dotson of Paragon, Richard Dotson of Fishers, and Roger Dotson of Mooresville; three sisters, Kathleen Freeman of North Carolina, Glenda Hubbard of Monrovia, and Gloria Poe of Martinsville; six grandsons; and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his constant companion, his dog Ms Piggy.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles, his step-father Les Hogarth, and one sister Charlotte Dotson.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington at 2 p.m. on Sunday with Jack Tolbert officiating. Burial will be Worthington Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon Sunday until the time of service at the funeral home.
