Born Dec. 31, 1929 near Lyons, he was the son of Earl and Vernie Woodall Jeffers.
He was a graduate of Spiceland High School and was a former employee of Guide Lamp Corporation in Anderson prior to moving to Florida where he was employed as a construction worker and truck driver.
Survivors include: two sons, Michael Jeffers and his wife Marcie of Naples, Fla., and Pat Jeffers of Anderson; a daughter Karen and her husband Kevin Knotts of Atlanta; a grandson Darius Antonio Rains of Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Zachary Poe of New Castle; three sisters, Kathryn Louise Webb of New Castle, Phyllis Sue Woodrum of Noblesville, and Mary Jane Teague of New Castle; a brother Thomas Jeffers and his wife Emma of Cerritos, Calif.; 11 nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Luella Landrum, who passed away in 1994, a brother Bill Jeffers, who passed away in May 2005, and two infant sisters and one infant brother.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Main & Davis Funeral Home, Broad Street Chapel in New Castle. Burial will be in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
