Born Dec. 16, 1941 in Sheridan, he was the son of Warren Pickett and Mary Johnson Eppelheimer.
He was a lineman and technician for Indiana Bell and AT&T.
Survivors include: his wife Lynn Hardesty Pickett of Ellettsville; his mother and step-father Mary and Russell Eppelheimer of Bloomington; a son Bruce Pickett of Spencer; five daughters, Melissa Pickett of Bloomington, Mary Rachel Smith of Tipton, Michelle Bailey of Indianapolis, Elizabeth Tompkins of Bloomington, and Kelly Jewart of Bloomington; a brother Steve Pickett of Frankton; two sisters, Janet Simmerman of Aurora, Colo., and Geneva Carter of Windfall; grandchildren, Travis, Heather, Grant, Cody, Allysa, Emily, Mason, Alexander, Avery, Hayden, and Sean; and great-grandchildren, Megan and Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville with the Rev. Alan Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today, and from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
