Born July 29, 1921 in Greene County, he was the son of Joseph Quince and Jane (Haywood) Ferguson.
He was a retired supply clerk at Crane, and had previously been a police officer in Bloomfield for six years in the 1960s. He was a World War II veteran of the Marines and a member of the American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield. He loved the outdoors and loved gardening.
Survivors include: his wife Barbara Ferguson of Bloomfield; three daughters, Jody Kay Ferguson of Bloomfield, Jolene Ferguson of Bloomington, and Joanne Ferguson of Bloomington; a son Joseph Paul Ferguson of California; two step-daughters, Janet Rush and her husband Zeb of Bloomfield and Jane Mason of Texas; a step-son Robert Michael Davis of Bloomfield; a brother James Ferguson of Jasper; a sister Mary Ruth Ferguson of Evansville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Joseph Ferguson, a sister Margaret Kleir, and a granddaughter.
A private family service will be conducted at a later date.
