Arthur R. "Toad" Ball

Arthur R. "Toad" Ball, 72, of Linton, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at his residence.

Born June 8, 1933 in Linton, he was the son of Daniel Ball and Pearl (Colbert) Ball. On Dec. 8, 1956, he married Shirley A. (Wright) Ball.

He worked for the Linton Fire Department for 20 years, retiring Aug.21, 1986. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Frank Courtney American Legion Post #22.

Survivors include: his wife Shirley Ball of Linton; three sons, Odus Ball of Linton, TJ Ball of Linton and Mickey Ball of Linton; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Grace Johnson of Culver City, Calif., June Earle of Linton, and Elaine (Peggy) Owen of Linton; and two brothers, Lester Ball of Linton, and Danny Ball of Linton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Terry and Timothy Ball, five brothers, Wilbur, Paul, Ernest, Robert and Silo Ball, and four sisters, Audrey Goodman, Lura Rodes, Mozzella Jackson, and Phyllis Ball.

Funeral services will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel, Linton, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday with Warren Shake officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with military graveside honors by Frank Courtney American Post #22.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
