Born Jan. 10, 1923 in Linton, he was the son of Arreatus Barnett and Clementine (VanDeneede) Barnett. On April 2, 1944, he married to Merry E. (Harrell) Barnett.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and had retired from General Electric Linton Plant in 1983 with 31 years of service. He was a member of the Linton Church of Christ, and the Frank Courtney American Legion Post #22 of Linton.
Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Merry Barnett of Linton; a daughter Sheryl Schmelzer of Hudson, Ohio; a son Mark Barnett of Linton; six grandchildren; a brother Thomas Barnett of Garden City, Mich.; and a sister Mable McHaley of Muncie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roy and Arreatus Barnett.
Funeral services will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 11 a.m. Friday with Jerry Carmichael officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home.
