He retired from the U.S. Navy where he worked for the Department of Defense and was a Vietnam veteran.
Survivors include a daughter Jean Ann (Jeanie) Gustafson-Thomas and husband, Darrell, of Gladstone, Mo.; a grandson, Jesse F. Eaton, of Gustafson, Mo.; a granddaughter, Carrie N. Thomas and grandson Brent L. Thomas, both of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother and sister in law, Roy and Carol Ann Horn, of Farmersburg; a brother, Tom Gustafson, of Thief River Falls, Minn., a brother, B. Lee Gustafson, of Crookston, Minn.; brother, Gary Gustafson and sister-in-law Marlys of Roseau, Minn.; a brother-in-law, Jim Fisher of Thief River Falls, Minn.; a brother and sister in law, Roy and Carol Ann Horn, of Farmersburg; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Mary Eva Gustafson; his wife, Mary F. Gustafson; one sister, Beverly Fisher, and one sister-in-law Beverly Gustafson.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at McGilley Antioch Chapel in Kansas City, Mo.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial and other services will be held at a later date in Jasonville.
