Born Sept. 2, 1918, in Linton, he was the son of Walter and Carrie Poe.
He retired from Crane NWSC, working there as an engineer on the railroad.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 22, VFW Post 7118, and was past governor of Moose Lodge, all of Linton. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Charles "Ted" Poe Jr. of Linton, a good friend, Wilma Heaton, and a great-grandchild, Derek.
He was preceded by his wife, Mary E. (Smith) Poe; a grandson, Todd Glenn Poe; three brothers; four sisters; and his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Linton American Legion & VFW will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday.
