Dickie D. Smith, 63, of Bloomfield, passed away Aug. 6, 2006, at Greene County General Hospital.

Born Oct. 22, 1942 in Linton, he was he son of Frederick William and Nellie (Bucher) Smith.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a truck driver for Mast Trucking, Millersburg, Ohio. He was a member of the Worthington American Legion Post No. 106 and the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge No. 84.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy (Crombez) Smith of Bloomfield; a son, Todd Smith of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Brock Smith of Bloomfield, Chris Smith of Kinston, N.C., and Samantha Smith of Dugger; 13 step-grandchildren; and a sister, Avenelle Heaton of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Max Smith.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Antioch Christian Church in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery, Bloomfield.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Lester Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield, and 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
