He was born in Brown County, Feb. 20, 1923 to Walter O. Cooley & Mary E. (Saffell).
He retired in 1978 from Indiana University maintenance department after 20 years service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a life member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW) and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Ault) Cooley, of Freedom; three children, Steve (Dianna) Cooley, of Bloomington, Judy (Roger) West, of Worthington and Harold Cooley, of Freedom; one sister, Ruey A. Landes of Edinburgh; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday.
Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Brown County.
