Mary Gertrude Benefiel, 75, of Carlisle, passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 7, 2006 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

She was born in Sullivan County, Indiana on Dec. 25, 1930 to Tommy Robertson and Edith Talley Robertson.

She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Carlisle.

She is survived by her husband Pastor Jim Bill Benefiel, two sons; Michael J. Benefiel of Sullivan and Timothy R. Benefiel of Kansas City, Kansas, one sister; Delores Hamilton of Indianapolis, and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother; Lowell Robertson.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Temple Baptist Church in Carlisle with Pastor David Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Woodward Cemetery.

Friends may call at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. before services Tuesday.
