Charles D. Stark

Charles D. Stark, 89, of Linton, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday., Oct. 3, 2006, at Linton Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born July 21, 1917, in Linton, the son of James Alonzo & Emma (Reed) Stark.

He worked as a coal miner for 40 years, retiring from Peabody Coal Co. He attended the Methodist Church, was a member of Masonic Lodge 560, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Don Stark, of Grants Pass, Ore.; a sister, Ruth Harp of Linton; two grandchildren, Wade Stark and his wife, Tammy, of Switzerland, and Anneliese Rene Tomlinson and her husband, Steve, of Simi, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Summer and Grant Tomlinson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive (Boruff) Stark, May 9, 1992, four brothers, two sisters, and his parents.

Friends may call from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel. Linton Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be private family funeral services following. Burial will follow at Switz City Cemetery.
