He was born in Greene County and graduated from Switz City Central High School. He was a member of the F&A Masonic Lodge.
He retired from the U.S. Army in 1981 afer 21 years of service. He also retired from Lockhead-Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Mona McDonald of Huntsville, Ala.; daughters, Keena L. Taylor of Toney, Ala., Katrina L. Troupe of Flintville, Tenn., Kimberly L. Brightwell of Huntsville, Ala., Karree L. Hayes of Hazel Green, Ala. and Krystle L. Newby of Huntsville, Ala.; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother, Jack McDonald; and sisters, Joyce Lang and Jody Kay Wade.
Arrangements are being handled by Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, Ala. Visitation was Monday from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at Spry Funeral Home at 2 p.m. today, with Ralph Roach officiating. Interment will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens in Huntsville, Ala.
