Born Oct. 3, 1913 in Greene County, he was the son of Homer and Elsie (Collins) Frye.
He was a mechanic at NSWC Crane and was a member of the Bloomfield Odd Fellows Lodge and the union at Crane.
Survivors include: one daughter, Linda Alsman of Linton; three sons, Donald Wayne Frye Sr. of Solsberry, Robert "Boogie" and Larry Joe Frye, both of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren, Donald Frye Jr., Teresa English, Lorena Smith, Roberta Knowels, Robert Troy Frye, Kylee Frye, Rose Feltner, Roy Frye, Mike Alsman, Rick Alsman, and Susan Alsman; 15 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; and two sisters, Thelma Workman and Wilma Kirk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mildred (Minks) Frye on Sept. 30, 1985; one daughter, Nina Pentecost; one son, Gerald Eugene Frye; two brothers, Max and Jessie "Bud" Frye.
Funeral service will conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Peggy Casteel officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeport Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one-hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. The Bloomfield Odd Fellows will conduct a service 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
