James D. Turpen, 63, Jasonville passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 at Sullivan County Community Hospital.

Born Jan. 21, 1955 in Sullivan County, he was the daughter of Dale and Bernice (Goodman) Turpen.

He was a member of the Sons of American Legion in Hymera.

Survivors include: his mother, Bernice Turpen of Dugger; a companion, Idella Sherman of Jasonville; one son, Kenneth Dale Turpen and wife, Valarie, of Vincennes; a daughter, Sherry Lynn Turpen, of Vincennes; three step-sons, Wilbur Sherman of rural Linton, Tim Sherman and wife, Pam, of rural Jasonville, and Harley Sherman and wife, Melody, of rural Linton; two sisters, Patricia Howard of Dugger and Barbara Badger of Cayuga; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with the Rev. John Booker officiating. Burial will be in Dugger Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today, and prior to service Wednesday.
