Born Dec. 12, 1928 in Sullivan County, she was the daughter of Roy Cecil Cox and Hallie Muriel (Mowery) Cox.
A membr of the South Linton Church of God, she was retired from G.C. Murphy and later from Wal-Mart.
She married Roy E. Gambill on July 21, 1947.
Survivors include two daughters: Diana Johnson and Regina Mitchell, both of Jasonville; and two sisters, Maxine Hammond of Jasonville and Mary Ann Short, of Ozark, Mo.; four grandchildren, Shelly (Myers) VanHorn, Michael Mitchell, Chastity Myers Samm and Jeremy Mitchell; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dec. 11, 1974; her parents; a son, Eugene Gambill; great-granddaughter Amanda Marie Mitchell and three brothers.
Service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville with Pastor Russell Black and Pastor Randy Randy officiating. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery in Dugger.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
