Ruth R. Shipman

Ruth R. Shipman, 92, of Dugger, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.10, 2007 at Sullivan Health and Living Center.

She was born in Sullivan County on Feb. 10, 1914 to John M. Reeves and Emma Goodman Reeves.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Dugger, retired from General Electric in Linton, and was a cook at the Midway Cafe in Dugger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jesse Shipman, a sister Enna Chastin, and a niece Jean LaFluer.

She is survived by a foster daughter Rose Barr of Linton; two nephews Dick Chastin of Ortonville, Mich., and Lloyd Turpin of Linton; two nieces; Darlene Padgett of Linton and Laverne Bedwell of Tuscan, Arizona.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with the Rev. John Booker officiating. Burial in the Dugger Cemetery.
