Born March 2, 1919 in Greene County, he was the son of Roscoe and Minnie (Bland) Bays.
He was a retired truck drive for Transport Motor Express. He belonged to the Teamster's Union and was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Ladder-Day Saints in Linton.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Kebra R. Wolf of Bloomfield; two sons Kevin R. Bays and Ricky Kyle Bays both of Bloomfield; two sisters, Marjorie Jeffers of Bloomington and Dorothy Griffin, of Dallas-Fort Worth Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vernalee (Royal) Bays on July 29, 2003; one sister, Mabel Thompson; one great-grandson, Drum N. Poynter; and his parents.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bishop Joe Willson, and Ray Wolf officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral from 4-8 p.m. today and 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday.
