John M. Laxton, 82, of Dugger, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at his residence.

Born Nov. 13, 1924 in Sullivan County, he was the son of John M. and Onie Hickman Laxton.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Dugger and Dugger American Legion Post No. 224.

Survivors include: a son, Michael and his wife, Jill Laxton of Dugger; one daughter, Jeannie and husband, Bob Cliver of Dugger; three granddaughters, Megan McCann, Jenna Laxton and Kimi Bing; and one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Hunley.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with the Rev. Scott Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Dugger Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and until the service Saturday with graveside rites by the Dugger American Legion.
