She was born June 14, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of John and Helen (Utterback) Padgett. She was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service, having worked both in Linton and Bloomington. She previously worked with her father at Padgett's Bakery in Linton as a baker and decorator.
She is survived by two daughters, Louanne Smith and Annalee Long, both of Bloomington; one brother, Don Padgett of Coschocton, Ohio; one sister, Christy Gastineay of Laughlin, Nev.; two aunts, Kathleen Fishero of Camby and Shelby Meurer of Linton; and one nephew, Walter Padgett of Terre Haute.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles V. Smith; one son, Charles William Smith; and one son-in-law, James Gregory Smith.
Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. on Friday at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Private interments services will be at Fairview Cemetery in Linton at a later date.
