Norma P. Shearer

Norma P. Shearer, 82, of Bloomfield, passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Wildwood Health Care Facility in Indianapolis.

She was born Sept. 4, 1924, in Jasonville, the daughter of Robert & Ruth (Hurt) Whittington.

She worked with her husband, J. Richard Shearer, in a dentist's office. She was a church organist at Acton United Methodist Church for 25 years and at Concord Baptist Church near Bloomfield for 20 years.

Survivors include a son, Mark Shearer of New Palastine; a daughter, Tanya Yates and her husband, Bruce, of New Palastine; and two grandchildren, Larissa Yates and Wesley Yates.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Shearer; an infant daughter, Trina Shearer; a sister, Evelyn Hastings Thomason; and her parents.

Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel at 3 p.m. on Friday with Bruce Yates serving as eulogist and Bill Quick, officiating. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Friday.
