Born Sept. 15, 1915 in Sullivan County, she was the daughter of Claude and Ruth Spangler Alumbaugh.
She was a member of the Hymera United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Hymera Chapter of Eastern Star, where she also served as past Matron.
Survivors include: three sons, Max W. Bedwell and wife, Jeanne of Salem, Glen F. Bedwell and wife, Kaye, of Shelburn, Ronald L. Bedwell and wife, Karran, of Riverside, WY; a sister, Mary McCammon of Tangier; six grandchildren, Deanna Bedwell Smith, Stephen Bedwell, Luke Bedwell, Kelly Bedwell Napier, Amy Bedwell, Erin Bedwell Spruell; eight great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; adn three step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gilbert Bedwell; her second husband, Lester Shepherd; two brothers, Loren and Lewis Alumbaugh; and one sister, Freda McBride.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Rev. Tom Stapp officiating. Burial will be in Claiborne Cemetery.
