Born July 27, 1924 in Howesville, he was the son of Robert and Thelma (Drake) Eccles.
He was retired from General Electric in Linton and was a farmer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a life member of American Legion Post 22 and VFW Post 7118, both of Linton. He was a 1942 graduate of Coalmont High School.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary M. (Moss) Eccles of Howesville; three daughters, Cindy Rawley and her husband, Jay, of Jasonville, Cathy Mason and her husband, Mike, of Linton, and Christy Kennett and her husband, Kenny, of Jasonville; a son, Jeff Eccles and his wife, Ronda, of Jasonville; a step-son, James Dyer and his wife, Karen, of Jasonville; a brother, Dan Eccles of Linton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Larry Dyer, a brother, Larry Eccles, a sister, Florence Eccles, and his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday at noon Friday until the hour of the service.
The Linton American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside rites.
