REDNECK GOLF

In case you missed it last week on ESPN,there was a big upset in local golf. Jeff Lehman defeated Bart Beard 38-41 in nine holes.Rumor has it Jeff may soon be giving lessons.
I happen to see Kenny Gillan in town this week.Kenny is a retired educator.I don't believe I ever heard anyone say a bad thing about Kenny. He was a baseball coach during his career,he was the kind of coach you would you would want your son or daughter to play for. Good luck to Clarence Johnson as he is taking over the basketball program at Union.Clarence will need all the luck he can get coaching basketball at Union has become a thankless job. I heard someone say you might be a redneck if you were too drunk to fish.Do you think you think might be too drunk to golf if you fall out of the cart, spill your beer on the green and leave your clubs in a trash can? Would this person be a redneck? Congrads to Mel Payne on being the Senior League champ this summer. Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

Like Jerry Lee sang years ago, "What's Made Milwaukee Famous Has Made A Loser Out Of Me". Better stick to Schlitz and leave the squirrels alone. Lighten up CMan, it's a light hearted article and by the way, Joe never wrote that Mel fell out of a cart. Read it again, that was a joke in the preceding paragraph.
Congrats to Mel, it really surprises me he was drinking on the course and fell out of his cart, seems very uncharacteristic. Thanks for the info, don't really see the humor in it. Not setting a very good example.
This whole blog is like one big inside joke. Drinking on the golf course is not a laughing matter. I killed a squirrel driving up no. 11 at Phil Harris one time. I haven't picked up a club or an old milwaukee since.
So Sad.
Speaking of which, Kenny was a class act because his parents (a really great couple) didn't send him to school in August. :>) Sorry, wrong Blog.
You are right about Kenny G. - class act all the way...heck of a competitor in HS too. Like most Miners though you didn't want to play him early in the basketball season, because he was still handing off and leading the blocking and occasionally made some great down court tackles. :>)
If the Big Dog is giving lessons, I'm signing up now. I've seen him in action in KY and he was intimidating.
Who would be silly enough to leave their clubs in a trash can? It must have looked an awful lot like a car trunk at the time.
How did the Hart/Sims team fair in the Elks League? Who won that league?
Couple of Majors tomorrow...WRV Open and J-ville Open...could be some upsets in the making. Who knows, maybe I'll make a putt again someday.
