The Circus: How Not to Advertise!

Promoters for the circus coming to Linton decided it would be a great idea for them to litter the downtown with signs for the upcoming attraction without permission from business and building owners -- or really any regard for anyone. Posters were plastered on every store front in downtown Linton, using what seems to be about a half-roll of clear tape per sign.

Such disregard for others' property is really upsetting, and I know that none of them will be back to take down the signs after the event, especially those on vacant and out-of-towner owned buildings. So, we can all thank the circus -- which appears to have no name either because it wasn't on the signs -- for littering our downtown and generally trashing it up for us all to clean up after them. By their method and pattern of advertisement, it's no wonder there's not a name or any corporate contact information on these signs; after all, their home office would do nothing but field complaint calls all day.

I really hope this circus is not equally as irresponsible with their animals as they were with their advertising. Personally, I would highly recommend going to a zoo for those wanting to let their kids see exotic animals, where you know they're cared for in a professional manner in a permanent and legitimate establishment -- and one that won't be here one day and gone the next like a circus.

You'll also know the name of the zoo that you're going to, instead of attending a circus that's obviously too embarrassed to display its name or contact information in its own advertisements.

"Best I can hope for is an obvious violation"

So you are wanting the animals to be mistreated to prove you are right. What the heck? Can you be anymore egocentric. I thought it was about the "poor" animals not about you.

If you think the circus is bad you ought to see what we did to pigs at the pork plant back in the day. They sure would squeal awful loud....

Levi Graber is a better person then you "still hopeful". You need to stop trying to tell others what to do with their property. You and your kind are destroying my wonderful country and the age old industry of agriculture.

What ends up happening is that you only speak with people who think like you do. You all agree with each other and reaffirm your flakeyness.

The more regulation and animal control your kind brings about the more it costs for poor people to feed their families. This creates human suffering: you create human suffering.

You would think that with all the starving and malnurished children in the world you would find a better cause to champion. What you illustrate is how spoiled and disconnected the American public is with real world problems. Most places in the world will eat dogs and cats because the people are without food. Who do you think you are? How much better than everyone else are you actually? Mr. Graber works hard and deserves respect. Do you?

Of course, people do not matter, only your cause and your feelings. You and that guy who wants to kill babies to save the planet need to get together. I can envision your perfect world of cats and dogs running the planet. Then again, can it get much worse than liberal socialists......?

As a general rule, most political signs are displayed between the road and the sidewalk...which is city property. I, however, do understand the frustration. The placement of the signs make it seem that a supporter of the candidate lives at that home...I have moved some signs myself.

As a side note, school board elections are coming up soon. Let's try to get or keep objective members...not those with a personal agendas or those trying to get a relative a job in the school corp. We don't need educational leaders that are trying to get elected just to pass the time.

Slightly off topic. Set your timers and tell your friends to watch Oprah this Friday at 4pm. Finally after much begging and pleading , we are getting our show on the horrors of puppy mills.....puppys run like the ones of the AMish recently highlighted in an INdy TV station expose. INcluded some scary confronations with Levi Graber of Oden.

I've come to accept that compassion is the new radicalism of our time, in some peoples eyes but time is catching up, the rest of the world see's these horrors for what they are. COme on Greene County, get with it. Time to care what 'outsiders' think of us if we are ever going to get ahead.

You didn't see a name clearly because they dont' want any of us 'do gooders' lookign up the name and their excessive violations of animal care law. See following link:

http://www.circuses.com/fact-pages.asp

I don't know who is 'sponsoring' this sad event but they should be ashamed.

Besides bringing into town, an inarguable criminal element, and drugs, you are enjoying your circus at great suffering to the their animals. Just check their USDA records and they violations.......Best I can hope for is an obvious violation is seen while they are here, and hopefully it won't entail a tortured animal 'losing it' and wreaking havoc and hurting people in the process. TIme to wake up LINTON......brining circuses to our town makes you look like you could care less about horrific animal suffering!

Chris,

I totally agree with all you have said.

We need to remember this during the election cycle as the politicians are just as disrespective about their yard signs.

I pulled two Ellsworth signs off of my properties and was never asked permission to post them.

Perhaps a littering citation for each occurance would be in order. I know if an average citizen threw a 18" X 18" piece of cardboard and a 4 ft. piece of #9 wire on someone's property they would get a ticket.

It's time to crack down on these desperate people!
