One Resolution Down The Drain

Well, one of my New Year's resolutions was to write a new blog every week. No matter how boring or mundane it would be, I would write about it anyway. Here I am 11 days into January and writing my first blog of 2009. Better late than never, I guess. I'll start now.

I seen a few weeks ago that Coke and Pepsi were in the news. Apparently the FDA doesn't like Coca-Cola's new product, and Pepsi is suing "itself." Makes me wonder why Pepsi insists on selling High Fructose Corn Syrup instead of Cane Sugar.

I noticed the last time I ate at the Double Dog that the proclaimed to have the "Best Chicken Salad in Greene County." Now that is a pretty big statement. I have decided to take them on. From now on when friends and I eat at a restaurant, we are going to order a Chicken Salad to compare.

I must admit now that I despise Chicken Salad. After trying dozen's of recipes(always sweet tasting), I have found only one so far that I have liked. Send me information on any and all restaurants that serve Chicken Salad. I only know of a few.

I plan on interviewing the people who bring us our food this year. No, not your mother's and wife's. I am talking about farmers. The local people who grow food for the local community. I am interested as to what they have to say.

Try The Pepperoni Grill's grilled chicken salad-it's delicious!

The Lighthouse Lunchbox has a solid chicken salad sandwich...at least they did the last time I ate there a few years ago.

Matt, you wouldn't like the chicken salad at the Lighthouse. It's very sweet! It has grapes and pineapple and the dressing that it's made with makes it even sweeter.

I like the Double Dog's chicken salad... I like the unique spin they put on it.

My guess is high fructose corn syrup is cheaper than cane sugar. I believe Coke makes it with cane sugar in Mexico, but not in the U.S.

Speaking of sweeteners, how about a post on the alternative ones? Which ones really cause cancer in lab rats? Is Splenda really safer? Which ones can you bake with?

it would be nice to get the low down on safe alternate sweetners. . . especially natural ones, like honey and some with some weird names like zylatol???? that i have heard of and even tasted. surely sugar is NOT the only natural sweetener out there. . .

Jiffy Treat has a very good Chicken Salad also...especially when you get it on white bread toasted. Just a little info for you.
