I am not sure why I have always passed on dining at this establishment. I really have no excuse as to why I have never dined at this local restaurant. It is closer than restaurants in other counties that I have visited. This past Saturday I remedied the situation. I ate at Worthington's "The Front Porch Steakhouse."

Upon looking at the menu I immediately noticed the lack of appetizers. Seeing they offered a fried oyster and fried shrimp dinners. I asked my waitress if I could order them alone, and she obliged. Both came out hot and with a side of cocktail sauce. The shrimp were delicious. The oysters were not. Extremely fishy and I even occasionally tasted them hours later.

For dinner I ordered the chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. The chicken fried steak was perfect. Very crispy great flavor. The green beans were just like grandma used to make, the perfect mixture of onion and pork accompanying them. On the other hand the mashed potatoes left more to be desired. I am almost positive they came from a box. My dinner companions ordered the rib eye steak, New York Strip steak, and the catfish. Having tasted all three, I have to say the rib eye was good, and the strip better. The catfish though was outstanding. Very possibly the best I have ever tasted.

The Front Porch has good service, and the food is hit or miss. Hit on the catfish and miss on the oysters.

I have been eating at the Front Porch for years and have never found it hit or miss. The food has always been very well prepared, very tasty, and a good quanity. Their fried chicken special on Sunday is a lot better than Grandma ever made and there homemade deserts are wonderful.

Fantastic. I have never had a bad thing to say about Olive Garden. Well, the excruciatingly long waits, but for such good food that is expected. I had the Shrimp and Chicken Carbonara and Beth had Polenta crusted Chicken with Four Cheese Ravioli. Both were excellent. In fact, Beth's dinner isn't even an actual menu item. Yet. Apparently Terre Haute's restaurant gets to test new menu items for public opinion. In fact, the chef came out and asked her opinion of the dish.
