The Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce's downtown fall festival date (Oct. 1) is fast approaching. We are very excited to announce our entertainment for the day.
At 2 p.m. Gregg Orman and Tony Kluesner will be performing on the stage. At 5 p.m., Kade Puckett will be performing his finger style guitar, and at 7 p.m. finds John Danner doing acoustic guitar. From 8-10 p.m. local favorite No1Zero will be on the stage. Arts and Craft vendors will open their booths beginning at 10 a.m. We have several of the vendors offering demonstrations throughout the day. Be sure to stop by and visit those vendors throughout the day. The public tasting for the chili cook off begins at noon. The judges will be making their selections on their favorite chili and that announcement and awards presentation will be made at 2 p.m. Following the chili cook off we will be having a cornhole tournament. Registration forms are available at the Chamber office or at MainSource Insurance inside MainSource Bank's main location on State Road 54. Cost per team is $10. Thirty-five percent of the registration fees will be paid to the winning team and 15% will be going to the second place team. The more teams that participate, the higher the payout. Grab a friend and come join in the fun. Some real fun should be at 6 p.m. on the stage. Francis' Jewel Box will be sponsoring a Newlywed/Goldiewed contest. The newlyweds and goldieweds participating in this event will be announced next week. You won't want to miss the fun as these local couples find out just how much they really know about each other. This should be a very fun event and who knows, you just might learn something new about someone! In addition to the downtown fall festival, the Linton Rotary will be conducting their Linton bicycle tour of Greene County on Oct. 10. There will be a 25 mile ride and a 50 mile ride. Registration is $25 per person. The ride will begin at Humphreys Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the ride starts at 9 a.m. * The Chamber's fall fish fry is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Roy Clark building. In addition to the fish, the menu will include baked beans, slaw, drinks, and homemade desserts. Tickets are now available at the Chamber office. Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Tickets at the door are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. * We are always excited to talk about things going on with our Chamber members. The first this week comes from Ranard's Hauling, Removal & Recycling. As they approach their one year anniversary for their Curbside Recycling Pick-Up program, they are implementing a new program to help charity, non-profit or clubs in Greene County. How the program will work: All recyclable material brought in from the Commercial and Residential Curbside Recycling Pick-Up will be weighed in upon arrival. The total number of pounds of material brought in each week will be paid to a charity, non-profit or club in Greene County that is selected to receive the donation that week. They are looking for charity, non-profit or clubs in Greene County to sign up each week to receive the donations, please call their office for more details and to get signed up! A donation will be given to a local charity, non-profit or club in Greene County based on the total number of pounds of material brought in each week. The current rate is $5/ton. Pricing for these recyclable items will fluctuate with the markets. The second comes from Francis' Jewel Box. Francis' will be having its second annual Street Dance and Cruise In on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 6- 9 p.m. This was a very popular event in downtown Linton last year. Be sure to come out and enjoy the fun as the DJ spins your favorite dance tunes. Francis' is located at 145 N. Main in downtown Linton and these activities are scheduled in front of the store. Cheryl is the executive director of the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce. She can be reached by mail at P.O. Box 208, Linton, Ind., 47441 or by telephone at 847-4846. |
