Our thanks to Pleasant Grove Farms south of Linton for hosting our September Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce meeting last week. It was a beautiful setting and perfect weather.

Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman spoke to our members regarding how the state of Indiana was doing against competing states for new business and highlighted on tourism opportunities within Greene County. Thanks to everyone who attended this meeting.

Congratulations to Josh Riggins from Farmers and Mechanics for winning this month's door prize.

Our October meeting will be Oct. 20 at the Regions Bank location on Vincennes Street in downtown Linton. Our host for October will be Greene County General Hospital and our speaker will be Larry Ordner, representing Sen. Richard Lugar's office.

* Oct. 10 will be the day of the downtown fall festival. We are still looking for chili cook off teams (cash prizes to be awarded!) and arts and crafts vendors. In addition to other entertainment on the stage, we will be conducting a Linton's Got Talent contest. We also have planned a pumpkin decorating contest. The pumpkin decorating is open to all ages!

* In addition to the downtown fall festival, the Linton Rotary will be conducting its Linton bicycle tour of Greene County on Oct. 10. There will be a 25 mile ride and a 50 mile ride.

Registration is $25 per person.

The ride will begin at Humphreys Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the ride starts at 9 a.m.

* The Chamber's fall fish fry is scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Roy Clark building. In addition to the fish, the menu will include baked beans, slaw, drinks, and homemade desserts.

Tickets are now available at the Chamber office. Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Tickets at the door are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
