Thanks to everyone who joined us at Tuesday's Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Linton Elks Lodge.

John Mensch, representing the West Gate Authority, gave a very informative update on the West Gate Tech Park. Representatives from the American Cancer Society were in attendance and recognized the Angell family for its long commitment to the Relay For Life.

The Angell Award will be given annually to an individual who exhibits extraordinary or outstanding service to the Relay for Life.

The door prize was won by Vickie Brown and donated by WQTY. The May meeting will be May 19 at the Linton Elks Lodge.

* The Chamber's spring fish fry will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Roy Clark Community Building. Tickets are available at the Chamber office.

Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children 11 and under. The meal includes fish, baked beans, slaw, bread, drinks and dessert.

Proceeds from this event are used for the Linton Freedom Festival.

* Mark your calendar for May 9. This will be the annual Angell's Ribeye Cookout to benefit the Relay for Life. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m.

Come out, have a great lunch and help benefit this year's Relay for Life.

* Attention former Linton-Stockton High School band members! Plans are under way to form an LSHS Alumni band.

An informational Web site has been set up at www.lintonalumni.com . Names and contact information is being assembled at this time.

If you are interested in participating in this informal group, please log onto the Web site for more information.

This project is being spear headed by the Linton Civitan Club. To quote our Civitan contacts: "So far, there seems to be a lot of interest and it is going to be fun whatever happens!"

So pull out those old band instruments stuck away in the attic and get tuned up!

* The Linton Public Library will host its Arts in the Library Spring Fling II on Saturday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Fred Shields and the Salt Cured Band will play at 12:30 p.m. followed at 2 p.m. with Tony Kluesner and his steel drums.

* Chamber member Ranard's Hauling, Removal and Recycling is offering a few new services.

It is now buying scrap metal and have also begun to recycle old asphalt shingles. It is now equipped to take bagged trash at the recycling facility at a cost of $2 per bag.

Its Thrift Store will be opening May 2. This is located at the recycling facility. Monies raised through the Thrift Store will be donated back to families in need here in Greene County. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact Ranard's at (812) 384-0999.

The facility is located 2 1/2 miles north of Bloomfield on State Road 157N.

Cheryl is the executive director of the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce. She can be reached by mail at P.O. Box 208, Linton, Ind., 47441 or by telephone at 847-4846.
