Congratulations to Allison Young. Allison was crowned the 2009 Freedom Festival Queen Saturday night.
Also congratulations to Taneal Church and Leah McDonald on being selected as the Court attendants for this year's Freedom Festival. Be watching for these young ladies as they represent the Freedom Festival in these upcoming months. * Seats remain available for The Van-Dells on Saturday at the Linton-Stockton High School auditeria. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.. Tickets are available at the Chamber office. Ticket prices are $20. Contact the Chamber office at 847-4846 or stop in at 159 1st Street NW to get your tickets. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Linton Freedom Festival. * March 17 will be the Chamber's March meeting at the Linton Elks Lodge. Our speaker for March will be Eric Swickard, Transportation Planner with Bernardin Lochmueller & Associates. Eric will be updating members on the progress of the I-69 project. This should be a very informative meeting for our members. Lunch begins at noon. * The Chamber's Spring Expo is scheduled for March 21 at the Linton National Guard Armory. This event is free to the public. The hours for this year's Expo will be 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Businesses and Non-Profits interested in participating can contact the Chamber office for more information. Concessions will again be provided by the Linton Rotary Club. * Attention Linton, the fight against cancer needs you! The Relay For Life of Greene County has set a goal of recruiting 22 Relay For Life Teams by March 13. They still need four more teams to meet their goal. They have a good number of teams from Eastern and Central Greene County and would like to have more participants from Linton at the Relay. The Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature community engagement activity. Teams of people raise funds for cancer research and patient services during the spring, and then join community on May 15-16 at our overnight event to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against cancer in Greene County. To participate simply register online at www.relayforlife.org/greenecountyin and recruit eight to 10 people from your workplace, church, school, family or friends to join your team. To make a difference in your community, please sign up online or contact Relay Chair Nicole Cox-Stahl at emt913@yahoo.com or Community Representative Thom Ulmet at (812) 336-8423. * Ranard's Hauling, Removal & Recycling is now open for business at its new location at R.R. 5, Box 62, Bloomfield, approximately 2 1/2 miles north of Bloomfield on Highway 157N. Hours of operation are Monday -- Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The new location enables them to better serve you and expand their operations. Ranard's Recycling's full service scrap yard is now open to the public for customers to cash in their scrap metal. They are accepting all ferrous and non-ferrous metals: tin, steel, copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, wiring, appliances, etc. Call for current pricing as they change weekly/monthly. A "Grand Opening" ribbon-cutting will be Friday at noon. Everyone is invited to attend. Cheryl is the executive director of the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce and can be reached by mail at P.O. Box 208, Linton, Ind., 47441 or by telephone 847-4846. |
