If you plan to attend the Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show this month, please be sure to stop at the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce booth and say hello to our volunteers promoting our outdoor recreation opportunities.

This year's show is Feb. 20 through March 1. The Chamber's booth is located in the Coliseum. It's always nice for our volunteers to see a friendly face from home.

* The Linton Freedom Festival's annual Scholarship Pageant will be Saturday, March 7 in the Linton-Stockton High School Auditeria.

We have five young ladies from Linton-Stockton High School who will be participating in this year's event. The Freedom Festival Queen and Court represent the Linton Freedom Festival throughout the 34 Days of June and at the Indiana State Festival Association's scholarship pageant in November.

* The Chamber will be hosting The Van-Dells on Saturday, March 14 in the Linton-Stockton High School auditeria. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are now available at the Chamber office. Ticket prices are $22 and $20. Contact the Chamber office at 847-4846 or stop in at 159 1st Street NW to get your tickets. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Linton Freedom Festival.

* The Chamber's Spring Expo is scheduled for Saturday, March 21 at the Linton National Guard Armory. This event is free to the public.

The hours for this year's Expo will be 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Concessions will be provided. Businesses and non-profits interested in participating can contact the Chamber office for more information.

* The Old Bank and Company Restaurant announced this week that it will be reopening on Friday and Saturday evenings beginning next Friday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. Reservations are now being accepted for Valentine's Day on Feb. 14.

To reserve your table for Valentine's Day call 847-3960. They will be serving each night from 5 to 9 p.m.

* This year's Greene County Relay for Life has kicked off. The team captain meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at UDWI REMC. The May meeting is scheduled for Farmers and Mechanics Federal Savings and Loan on the first Thursday of May.

This year's Relay will be May 15 and 16 at the Bloomfield Park. The goal for this year's Relay is to raise $35,000. The featured speaker at this year's Relay will be Indiana Rep. Sandy Blanton. If you would like more information on how to participate, please contact Nicole Stahl at (812) 227-1819.

* The Linton Freedom Festival Parade is just 147 days away! That's right, we're on official countdown mode here at the Chamber office ... OK, maybe it's because we're also wishing for warmer weather.

Parade applications will be going out to past participants the first part of March.

It's not too early to begin thinking about your parade entry for this year. We'll soon be making some exciting announcements to this year's Freedom Festival.

* Plans have also started for the first Linton Fall Festival and Chili cookoff. This event will be in downtown Linton on Saturday, Oct. 31.

If you have ideas you would like to share, please contact the Chamber office. If you would like to volunteer your time to help with this project, please let us know.

Cheryl is the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce executive director. She can be reached by telephone at 847-4846.
