Chamber Fish Fry set for Oct. 16

Oct. 16 will be the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce's fall fish fry. This event will be at the Roy Clark Community Building.

We will be serving fish, slaw, baked beans and dessert from 4-8 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance for adults and $4 for children 11 and under.

Advanced tickets are available at the Chamber office. The proceeds from this fish fry benefit the Linton Freedom Festival fireworks display.

* The Chamber's October meeting will be Oct. 21 at Stoll's Country Inn. Our speaker for October will be Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw. Holtsclaw will be speaking to our members on the county's check deception program and changes coming in the program.

He is interested in hearing what our members have to offer and say regarding this program. We encourage everyone to participate and give their input to Holtsclaw.

The meeting will begin at noon.

* The Greene County Clothe-A-Child and Toys-for-Tots program kicked off Oct. 1. The Chamber office has applications for these programs available. Applications are accepted Oct. 1-31.

Applications are also available at the Greene County Office of Family and Children in Bloomfield, Bloomfield Town Hall, Jasonville Utility Office and Worthington Town Hall.

* In continuation of their 50th anniversary celebration, Francis' Jewel Box will be sponsoring a 1950's sock hop in downtown Linton on Oct. 18 from 6-8 p.m. A DJ will be on hand playing music from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, a classic car cruise-in is planned for North Main Street along with some fun games and prizes.

* The U. S. Small Business Administration is offering a free online business loan seminar to small businesses on Tuesday, Oct. 14. There is a 10--11 a.m. (EDT) seminar or a 3-4 p.m. (EDT) seminar.

Discover: * New initiative for SBA, Shorter, simplified application for $350,000 or less, and Expedited SBA loan processing. If you are interested in either of these sessions, please contact the Chamber office for more information on how to register.

SBA offers help in the following areas: Starting a Business, Financing a Business, Growing a Business, Opportunities in Contracting, Recovering From Disaster, A Voice for Small Business in Government.

* Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman's office has initiated the "Hoosier Cheer for Our Heroes" campaign. Her office wants to show our troops how thankful Hoosiers are for their sacrifice. Last year, her office collected over 15,000 letters and cards for our deployed men and women. "Hoosier Cheer For Our Heroes" is aimed at sending our thoughts and prayers to our U.S. troops away from their homes and loved ones this holiday season. The Lt. Governor encourages everyone to write a note to our troops and let them know just how much we appreciate the job they are doing for our country

If you are interested in sending a letter of appreciation or a holiday card to our troops, please send them to my office by Nov. 17 or visit www.in.gov/lgov/ for more information.
