Plan to attend the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce's August meeting. Our speaker will be U.S. Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-Evansville).

Rep. Ellsworth will bring us a brief update on legislation effecting our area as well as answering your questions. This meeting will be at the Phil Harris Golf Course at noon on Aug. 19.

This meeting is open to the public. We encourage everyone to come out and meet Rep. Ellsworth.

We will also have "celebrity" cooks grilling lunch for us that day. Arrangements have been made for a Chamber discount to be offered for anyone interested in playing golf following the luncheon. Non-members of Phil Harris can play 18-holes of golf w/cart for $16; and Phil Harris members can play for $10.

* We would like to send a reminder that the City of Linton is in need of support letters for their grant application on a new tanker truck for the Linton fire department.

Please drop off your letters of support to City Hall as quickly as possible so they can be included in the application. The support letters are weighed heavily when the application are reviewed. The addition of this new equipment will better serve our community.

* If you plan to visit the Indiana State Fair on Aug. 14, please be sure to stop by and pay a visit to the Greene County booth in the Visit Indiana Day exhibition area.

We will be joined by several other organizations within the state of Indiana to promote tourism and area festivals. We always enjoy seeing a friendly face.

The Visit Indiana Day booths will be located at Gate 1A - the 38th Street entrance.
