Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce members, don't forget that Tuesday will be our monthly Chamber meeting at noon at the Linton Elks Lodge.

Mayor Tom Jones will be giving us an update on the city of Linton. We will also be recognizing our Freedom Festival Queen Ashton Montgomery and court of Ashley Sparks and Jessica Markle.

* This Saturday will be the Freedom Festival annual golf tournament.

This will be a 2-man, 18-hole flighted tournament. The format for this tournament is six holes will be a 2-man scramble; six holes will be a 2-man best ball and six holes will be a 2-man alternate shot.

Cost to participate is $35 for Phil Harris Golf members and $53 for non-members. There is a 75 percent payout and the day will include tee packs, lunch, hole and door prizes.

Come join the day's fun. Tee times are available from 8:30 - 10 a.m. Call the golf course at 847-4790 to reserve your tee time.

* Our annual 5-K run will be June 21 at the Linton-Stockton High School. Advanced registration is encouraged and forms are available at the Chamber office.

In addition to the 5K run, there will be a 2-mile walk.

The course for this event is an out and back. Advanced registration is $16 and includes a T-shirt and participant ribbon.

Trophies are awarded to the top male and female runners. There are medals awarded to the top male and female in each age category.

* You won't want to miss the Indianapolis Colts' Make It Personal tour on June 24 at Humphreys Park from 4-6 p.m. Make plans to stop in the park that afternoon and see this remarkable traveling display.

Players and cheerleaders will be available for autographs, there will be free giveaways from the Colts, a quaterback challenge football toss, an opportunity to register for free pre-season tickets.

It is recommended you arrive early.

This will be rain or shine. Linton is one of 16 cities in the state selected for this tour. Make plans now to come join the fun! Food will be available.

* A couple exciting developments have recently been made in this year's Freedom Festival. These are especially great for anyone who has family out of town. The first is that WQTY Radio will not only be broadcasting the parade live on the radio, but they will also be video taping the parade for viewers to watch live on the Internet at www.wqtyradio.com

If you have family unable to attend from out of town, they can now watch the parade live on the Internet. This is perfect for anyone who has a family member serving in the armed forces and are unable to attend the parade to see their children participate.

The second development is that this year's parade will be filmed and DVDs will be available at a minimal cost. Again another great idea to share with family out of town.

Additional details will be available on this next week.

* The past two weeks we have focused on entertainment for June 28, 29 and 30.

This week we would like to highlight our events scheduled for July 1-2. The James Gang Amusements will open each night at 6 p.m. They have just announced that each night will be a bracelet night at a cost of $20 per night.

WTWO Channel 2 rolls into town on July 1 with its Wabash Valley Pride Tour. It will be broadcasting the news live from Humphreys Park. Be sure to tune in and catch the highlights.

Our entertainment for July 1 will be the Shields Family. First on stage will be Salt Cured bluegrass band followed then by Backroads Band. Both bands produce a great amount of local talent.

July 2 the Marketplace opens.

Entertainment on the stage that night will be Bruce Borders with his Tribute to Elvis. It's always a crowd pleaser!
