Memorial Day Weekend

Many Thanks to the Men and Women serving in our military around the world for helping to preserve our freedom. I thought in this blog we would take a look at some of the things that my friends and family did over the holiday weekend. My friend Kegan and I started the weekend off by doing some catfishing on Black Creek. Fishing was a little slow that evening, but it was good to be outdoors. Next Kegan and I took a trip to Redbird ORV area. As has been my experience the staff at the gate was friendly, helpful and outgoing. We spent a couple of hours riding the trails. Some of the improvements we noticed where a lot more stone had been out on trails that had deep water/mud holes making this a more enjoyable ride. A dangerous highwall had been posted off so it wouldn't be so easy to accidentally run off the highwall into a large pit with a hundred foot drop. Good job to the staff at Redbird, keep up the good work. Next we had a 2 day cookout at Sherrell and Glenda's cottage and as usual the food and fellowship was outstanding. Next we had some fun doing a little shooting, honing our firearm's skills just a bit. An outdoor tip my friend and neighbor Steve was telling me about was to use Absorbine JR. as a bug repellent. It Works. Thanks Steve A look around the area, Campgrounds were full to over flowing, folks are fishing the Lakes, Creeks and Rivers. People were hiking the trails at Greene-Sullivan State Forest, Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife area and Shakamak State Park. We had folks from out of the County coming here to enjoy the outdoors in Greene County. We have been blessed with many outdoor opportunities here in Greene County and we can and do have a tourism industry. We need to embrace it. |
