Hunter Ethics

There are many responsibilities that go with being an ethical hunter.
Honesty. Buy a license. Know the game you will pursue. Know the weapon you will use to take and secure your game. Know how to deal with any game you take,Preparing the meat for the freezer or the table. Know the bag limit for the species you are hunting and not going over that!!! Courtesy to other hunters! Never trespass on private property! The shooting of non-game wildlife will not be tolerated it shows a total disrespect for the ecosystem that produced the target species one would intend on hunting. As a group hunters are the most informed as to the rules, regulations and laws that govern the hunting of any species. We do not need a few unethical hunters giving the anti-hunting groups any more excuses for banning sport-hunting than they can come up with on their own. A round the county there are several hunting seasons still underway,Waterfowl hunting,Quail hunting,Rabbit hunting and Predator hunting all of these species are being taken at Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife area. With the beginning of the new year it is a good time to be out and see Goose Pond and our other wild areas in their winter season and what a contrast it is from warmer months. Anytime is a great time to be exploring the outdoors in Greene County but we do need to use our privileges responsibly with ethics in mind. We hope everyone has a happy new year and a great year outdoors. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Well said..Chuck! I ejoy reading your comments about Greene County wildlife.
Being a responsible hunter and putting our best foot forward when dealing with land owners and the public in general has a great impact on how we are percieved as a person. We the responsible hunters open the door for others that come after us. Be kind, considerate. Be thankful we live in a nation that allows us the freedom to hunt and fish, and so many other liberties that so many in other countries do not have.
