Over the few weeks I have had some excellent outdoor experiences. A friend ask if I would like to go waterfowl hunting with him. I did and had a lot of fun hunting ducks and geese. I hadn't been waterfowl hunting in 34 years and on our first hunt I shot my limit of ducks and later In the week I shot my limit of geese and that's not because I'm a great wing shooter it's because I hunted with a guy that knows how and where to go. Thanks Dennis.
Deer hunting is in full swing with many nice bucks being taken. I have not taken my deer yet but it is just a matter of time till the right one comes along. Before the firearms season started a friend and I saw 14 bucks on a scouting trip around the area. The deer are out there and patience is the key and the ability to sit still. A short time ago I broke my glasses and had to go to my eye doctor. While I was talking with Dr Steward about some outdoor subjects he showed me a technique that could be useful if a person was on a wilderness or backcountry trip and lost or broke their glasses. It's called the pinhole camera effect, by making two small holes in a piece of stiff paper or cardboard that line up with your eyes, looking though the small holes it causes your eyes to focus enough to get out of the wilderness and / or find or repair your glasses. Thanks Dr Steward for a great outdoor tip. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

While traveling south the other day, my brother and I notice a skim of ice on the water beginning to fill the goosepond, my brother said it would make a great skating rink, and I thought how nice, if you broke through the ice , it is only 18" deep, you could just step out and go to another area, cool, maybe a good place for a hockey game to break out Hmmmmmmmm
