Inspiration.... somewhere... here?

Posted Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 6:22 PM

Inspiration.

I seek it and I think you may too.

Some days I cannot find it although it's surely just right under my nose.

It's in hope, honesty and passion.

Inspiration is alive and well somewhere here.

Maybe naming where it's not will make things more clear.

Inspiration is not dark.

So, obviously it's not found in mass-produced fear.

Nor is it in the lives of those grumpy souls who'd rather complain 'there's no rain' and rant when it gets here.

I've not ever been inspired by someone preaching hell and damnation-- instead I've been left feeling rather blue.

Inspiration is not located in the great dollar bill.

We love it when it's up and detest it when it's down.

It's also void in monotonous work of all sorts.

Assembly lines were never in the business of mass-produced inspirational creativity.

Nor is it found in the hustle and bustle of time gone too fast.

Or maybe I'm wrong.

It's probably been here all along.

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."

George Bernard Shaw, 1856-1950

Apparently Expat is not feeling inspired! :)

I'm not entirely sure where the muse goes

when I don't feel particularly inspired.

There are days when I feel as if I'm going through

the motions; today is starting like that.

It has little to do with mood or physical

condition. It's extrinsic and intrinsic all at once.

That said, when inspiration strikes; look out!

I understand that by putting oneself "out here" by blogging, one opens oneself up for negative comments, but just once can we leave this woman alone? Good Lord, we have an economy in crisis, we're at war, and all we can do is focus our energy on nitpicking a staff writer on a small town newspaper??? Timmi, I say keep writing...keep blogging, and keep looking for inspiration.

Before anyone casts stones at me, let me say that I have never been a fan of Ms. Ferree's writing (no offense), but am so sick of her blogging and being met with such negative responses-if you don't like what she blogs about, find someone you do like and comment there. Self censorship is a wonderful thing...

Keep blogging.

I thought this article was great today!!! My mother taught me well, if I didn't have something good to say then I should keep my mouth shut....every article may not be perfect for everyone but it may be perfect for a person that particular day. Thank you.

"Nor is it in the lives of those grumpy souls who'd rather complain 'there's no rain' and rant when it gets here." I think this quote fits Expat well.

Expat - You must have forgotten about Oklahoma City. Timothy McVeigh was most definately a Christian, was in the U.S. Army, served in the Gulf War and had been awarded the Bronze Star. He was a registered Republican and had, as many Christian Supremist do, had supported the KKK. His act, which killed 168 people, was the deadliest act of TERRORISM within United States borders until the September 11, 2001 attacks. You shouldn't have forgotten he was executed right here in Indiana at the age of 33 and he was an American citizen. Stop all the Islam BS and go get an education and a life!

I happen to enjoy reading Ms Puckett's blogs. If you don't like what she writes then don't read it. It is that simple. I also happen to agree with most everything she says!!!!

Why do some of you believe you can attack Timberly personally? Never once in her columns/blogs does she attack anyone personally! She doesn't mention anyone's name or go after someone's family. Why do you think it's OK to attack her? Of course you can disagree with her comments, and you can express your thoughts. But why attack her? Just give your comment, straight forward, and leave it at that.

Hi Timberly,

How coincidental, I was just thinking about your family yesterday.

I was listening to music kept going back to one I didn't even remember adding to my mp3 player, John Mayer- Waiting on the World to Change. It really grabbed my attention and I started thinking, 'hmm..wonder if there are any local musicians who could use that type of music to reach the -18-25 year olds, continue to help pump up voter registration and voting in that age bracket".

You of all people know how inspiring music can be, maybe those two can be mixed locally to help the younger voters who WOULD control the world if they would get out and vote, to stop "waiting' on the world to change' and get out there and change it, just by voting?

I'm inspired to join in that effort if anyone would like to lead it! ;)

Fire and damnation preaching makes me blue also. People (many ministers included) forget that the Bible is good news! Do people realize that the word "gospel" actually means good news! Read and study the "good news" and it will truly liberate you!

Incognito---you are exactly right.

Ex-Pat--Perhaps you should read Col 4:5-6 and Romans 12 to start with. You seemed to forget what Jesus was about. You are more about Religion than being a true follower of Jesus. You spouting off about "hell and damnation" is only going to make things worse. The Jesus I follow is about trying to live my life the way he did his. Which was Truth PLUS grace. We are supposed to be different and our lives are supposed to show that. You however come across in a NON-Christian way. There are people in this world that don't want to be a CHristian because of people like you spouting off at the mouth.

Expat,

I hope you spend as much of your time sending letters to your politicians that pass the laws and support things that you disagree with as you do getting on every one of her blogs and bashing her.Do you call your local TV stations and bash them because there programs support a liberal world or moral view? I doubt it. I just find it hard to beleive how any person that defends their position under the guise of a Christian image finds it fruitful to attack a person the way you do. IF you are a Christian in more than just name then you should know that as Christians we are going to be persecuted for our beliefs. If you need help finding where it says it in the Bible let me know. The fact is I don't agree with some of the things she writes just as I don't agree with some of the things I see on TV. If I don't like it I don't watch it If I don't like what I read I turn the page. And it is pretty obvious that since you end your comment with "someone who cares" that you are one of the many that uses a Christian tag only for your personal priorities. If it were more than that you would care about all people whether they be friend or enemy and of the same views or not. If you want to continue to bash her, that is your choice. But leave the holier than thou, better than you Christian comments out of your posts since they don't portray what we are taught by Jesus.

Never argue about points in christianity.

Romans 14:

1 Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don't argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. 2 For instance, one person believes it's all right to eat anything. But another believer with a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables. 3 Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don't. And those who don't eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to condemn someone else's servants? They are responsible to the Lord, so let him judge whether they are right or wrong. And with the Lord's help, they will do what is right and will receive his approval.

People really forget what Christianity is all about. Many profess it but don't live it. Christ gave us two commandments to live by.

Love the Lord your God with all your might...

Love one another as I love you...

If we truly love one another as Christ loved us, world problems solved!

Food for thought....Have a good day!

PS I may disagree with some of the things Timberly talks about or some of her philosophies, but I gave over 20 years of my life to my country (USAF)in order for people to be able to express their beliefs. so honor other people's thoughts and words. If you can't intelligently and maturely discuss it, don't!

Wow Expat you are a Grumpy old fart aren't you! LOL I don't get paid anything but the benefits are out of this world! Have a good day!

Driving through Greene County one day I had seen a sign that simply stated, "Aspire to inspire". Thought about it for a well in my car, and came to the conclusion we all can inspire someone. When people see you being a better person, or maybe giving a kind word, or just giving someone encouragement to help them through their day would mean the world. People have given up on faith; truly I believe you must have faith in something. We have become a culture of morally bankrupt individuals we need to consider what we have and be thankful for life. Inspire those that need a jump start on life, aspire to better things that need to be changed.
