During my walk home for lunch the word thankful came to mind.
(As in thankful for being able to walk to and from work.) So here's another list of things easily overlooked yet undeniably meaningful: * Health, family and home * Hot summer days spent swimming with my boys * Grandparents * Flowers that bloom beautifully after being babied by a green thumb * Music-- all kinds * Overstuffed library shelves * A child reading * The Beatles...especially John Lennon * Mail-- in the form of a hand-written letter or card * Opinions spoken candidly from those unnerved by what other's think * Conversation with people who speak from the heart * Coffee in the morning and tea at night * Shade trees * A breeze on a hot day * Sleeping in on a rainy day * Thunderstorms * Friends who greet you with a big hug * Starry summer nights * Story telling * And of course I am thankful to you for reading me Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

How can any shelf be "overstuffed"? Once stuffed, the next one forces something to the floor. Same as overcrowding of a building; once crowded, no more room; the next entry forces something to give and something to fall out.
Paul, I think you've missed the whole point of this post. But FYI, a shelf CAN be overstuffed.
Anyhoo... I like your list Timberly. I'm thankful for those things too!
Expat: What exactly are you thankful for?
I am thankful for our Republic under God, our troops and veterans, those who vote for the good of preserving our Constitution and children and for Indiana's tomatoes!
We're preserving the Constitution? I thought the current regime and trampled all over it.
and should be had
Flashback to the 60s.
I like the list, too, PinkMarie. I enjoy most of Timberly's blogs. But I dispute the notion that a bookshelf can be overstuffed, overcrowded, over-anything except over-taxed. If you claim it's true, I'd like to see a photo of such a phenomenon. How can someone miss a point to a blog such as this? It's just a list of random thoughts. I think you missed the point: accuracy in writing.
*Paul's life in a nutshell*
Comments and criticism to other peoples blogs.
A sad life :(
If you have so many books crammed into a bookcase that it's hard to pull any out, and you also have to resort to stacking them on top of each other and on the floor, then that bookcase would qualify as being overstuffed!

I am thankful for:
"Opinions spoken candidly from those unnerved by what other's think"
and
"Conversation with people who speak from the heart".
These seem to be virtues of yours.
If they are, then where did the blog go that spoke of your things from the past?
Do you really mean what you write?
Will this post be erased as well?
They are just herding the sheeple in the direction that they want them to go.
That blog was just getting thought provoking and interesting too..Blah blah blah is what they want....all vanilla all the time.
Sheeple better fits following the status quo. I see a why leave the herd mentality from most people on here.
Ouch! & touche! p.s.: SmithA13, there is an apostrophe in "peoples". So sad your criticism lacks. p.p.s.; PinkMarie, looks like the shelf is completely stuffed, crowded, but not yet over-stuffed or over-crowded; note that some of the books, items are not on the shelf.
We should all be thankful for the ACLU !!!
Wow, I don't always agree with Timberly's blogs, but I liked this one. Regardless as to whether someone feels that someone doesn't live by what they write; she took the time to see the world around her and the things that make her feel good. If she could be accused of anything, it is that the list is too short; but we will give her a break on it, because she would probably have to write a book about it. It is also refreshing that she gushes about her children; in a world were 2 year olds are being sufficated by their mother's boyfriends, and parents are hiding their dead children's bodies in boats, teenagers are killing each other or their parents...well to be mushy about the love of your children is wonderful.
I am thankful for (but not limited to): my daughter, her willingness to talk to me about ANYHING (she is a teenager, that is a BIG deal), her blue eyes and her laugh. Sunshine in the morning, the smell of honeysuckle, vanilla ice cream, any good news, news that you thought was bad that turned out not to be so bad, the smell of chlorine and cocobutter lotion and the sounds of splashing in the pool, the smell of fresh cut grass, blue skies with little puffy white clouds, the sound of the ice cream truck, laughing, getting home and finding that someone did the dishes, the lines in the carpet that the vacuum makes, a nicely manicured lawn, really good pizza, a perfectly prepared steak, gosh there are so many things to be thankful for....Timberly, you wanna write a book?? lol.
