Ferree and Puckett to Exchange Vows

So here it is. Finally.

Since last week's column focused on my thoughts on marriage, this week I'm devoting the space to the upcoming Ferree-Puckett nuptials.

For those of you who may not already know, Kade and I will soon be married.

Our wedding has "kinda" been a spur-of-the-moment thing. If you've been waiting to get an invite, wait no longer because this is it.

That's right, there's no RSVP, no official wedding invitations and no search of mailing addresses. There's no suits, ties or bridal gowns. And there's certainly no stress over keeping in step with tradition.

If you know us, you know that we make our own tradition. We do things our way and we want our boys to know that life is what you make of it NOT what someone tells you it is.

With that said, we believe a wedding ceremony is completely open to one's personal interpretation. Together we want heartfelt simplicity and we want to share it with our close family and friends.

Kade and I have been together for a LONG time. So long in fact that many people assume we are already married. But, if you are close to us you know we are not. If you are close to us, you were also probably very surprised to hear about the upcoming nuptials. (Upon hearing the news, some of you EVEN thought we were joking.)

As it turns out we are not.

So, this is our non-traditional way of inviting those we love to share this personal experience with us.

Vows will be exchanged at 5 p.m., Friday, July 4, 2008 at the Ferree-Puckett Homestead-- which is located at 369 North Main Street in Linton.

You know who you are. Come as you are. Bring an open mind. And remember it's our way.

Oh yeah, congrats. And remember if you don't do things your way, you are just following someone else's path.

Congrats! Glad to hear you are doing it the right way! Your way! If you believe in it then you should take that next step and NOT be afraid. "LIFE MAY NOT ALWAYS BE THE PARTY WE HOPED FOR, BUT WHILE WE ARE HERE WE MIGHT AS WELL DANCE'. Again,Congratulations to you, Kade and the boys!!

As Ogden Nash wrote:

"To keep your marriage brimming,

With love in the loving cup,

Whenever you're wrong admit it;

Whenever you're right shut up."

Unfortunately, I could neither.

Best wishes to you both, have a wonderful life.

Why would anyone want to get married?

Timberly Puckett has a nice ring to it. Don't you think?
