Here's another personal story for you.
As a writer I tend to stay away from personal experiences. I like to write columns that inspire or make one think without getting too involved but every once in a while I get brave. So here it goes. For those readers out there who don't already know the Ferree-Puckett family has moved. And what an experience it has been. We love our new home--which is located on Main Street in Linton. That's right the parade route. But, what we really love is all of the memories of the home that community members have shared with us. From what we've been told if the walls could talk I'd have that book. We can tell that our new home was full of love and good times. We also know that the family who lived there before us was well known in the community and was well respected. One local resident recently referred to the man who resided here as a "community icon". That warms our hearts. I've heard stories of cookies and pies on the kitchen counter. I've been told about the shop refrigerator that was packed with goodies like candy bars and sodas. I also know (from a real good source) that the room that used to be a beauty shop put two kids through college. That room is now a music studio. I know Kade will make excellent use of that room. He will pour his heart and soul into all music composed there. The living room, which is striking beautiful, will also be put to some artistic use. That room is a writer's retreat. I can be inspired just sitting there. Soon with the help of a good family friend it will be the library I have always wanted. After years of having my book collection tucked away, those beloved books will be out of the closet--so to speak. Our boys now have room to run and play and eat and dream. We've only heard a small portion of what memories were made there and from that little bit we know in our hearts that it is up to us to carry on those memories of good food, family, friends and happiness. Of course as with any old house, changes will be made and work needs to be done. But, it is our hope to share our new home with those we love. Here's a big thank you to those family and friends who have continued helping us along the way and those who will be here for us today and tomorrow. Our home is always open to you. What a nice story. If your boys now have room to run and play and eat and dream. You must be living the American dream.
