Vote for Something

Today's the day that Hoosiers get an opportunity to make their voice heard in the presidential primary.

And today's also the day that our voice counts.

Or so they say.

Many people are sick and tired of the on-going Obama Clinton saga and will be relieved when the whole presidential debacle is over.

Count me in on that one.

Now let's go back to a voice that counts.

After the 2000 Bush/Gore presidential election I'll never truly have faith in the system.

When a candidate can win by the popular vote and not the electoral vote just whose voice are we hearing?

Not mine and not yours.

Democracy...Shamocracy...

Now, don't get me wrong. I will cast my vote. But, only because I have faith in the fact that my vote counts on the local level.

But, how much longer will local government exist?

Not much if you have taken a long look at House Bill 1001.

Back to the presidential issue....

We need a leader who leads not one pretending to lead by only following the footsteps made before him. A leader who does things her own way. One with a vision.

Give me someone who believes that feeding the poor is more valuable than starting a war.

Give me someone who believes that justice and equality for all refers to all Americans not just those who can afford to buy some.

Give me American values not Patriot Act 2, 3 and 4.

Give me a leader who sees past the divisions created by fear such as race, religion, sex and class.

Give me someone who understands that we are all citizens of the Earth.

Give me a reason to listen. Give me faith. Give me hope. And give me peace of mind and of Earth.

Just don't give me history repeating itself.

Well, Carter did help start some of the problems we currently have in Iran though.

If we are looking for presidents to look up to as models for our democracy, I would have to choose Thomas Jefferson.

It's a shame I couldn't say Jefferson Davis. Even though there was still the problem with slavery, the Confederate States of America had some better ideas in the constitution.

I truly believe we need less federal government.

I must admit that I haven't been proud of the USA or even to being a citizen for quite some time. What is there to be proud of?

Give me Jimmy Carter over Bush any day. At least he didn't knowingly and purposely violate the constitution and laws of this country.

Some food for thought:

nobody spends millions to get elected to a job that pays thousands unless there are under the table deals.

get rid of the electoral and have the popular vote, maybe then Indiana will count more than once every 40yrs

make everyone write a check to the government every pay period instead of auto pay deduction

have the general election April 16th

It's futile to argue politics in a forum such as this. As it is in many, if not all.

I've serious issues with each of the three, and voted Obama today.

Contrary to selective popular belief, Republicans don't enjoy sacrificing soldiers, and Democrats don't enjoy killing babies.

It's not that cut and dry, folks.

It's unfortunate that our political system has come to this, and that our media propagates this binary vision.

We have our candidates, and they have our votes.

I hope for the best.

I've been wrong before.

(Chris) Corb300, why did you say Clinton lost the popular vote (twice), then proceed to probe yourself wrong?

GCP, you can say whatever you like about Al Gore, but Bush is still the worst president we have ever had. Period.

Greene County Patriot: Why did Gore's lawyers surpress the military votes? I don't remember that part. It could be true, if you remember that but it doesn't make sense when you say, "due to the greed of one man." He lost so why would'nt he have wanted every vote count? I thought he was trying to get all the votes counted then recounted? I lived in Florida during that whole mess. Talk about loosing faith in the election system.

Clinton lost the popular vote in his first bid for election, but, won the electoral vote. This happens, but, you don't hear about that election anymore.

Yeah, good luck getting a President with those kind of good qualities. We had a couple that were running, but they've already been tossed out :(
